Working conditions
- Ensure that all equipment, fixtures, and building infrastructure are properly maintained;
- Schedule and oversee repairs, either by internal teams or external contractors;
- Ensure timely preventive maintenance to avoid unexpected breakdowns;
- Liaise with vendors and contractors for outsourced services (e.g., repairs);
- Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements ;
- Ensure work done by third parties meets quality standards and timelines;
- Oversee facility support staff, such as maintenance workers, janitors etc;
- Assign tasks, manage schedules, and ensure high performance within the team;
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff;
- Act as the point of contact for emergency situations (fire, flood, equipment breakdowns);
- Coordinate responses to emergencies and manage evacuation procedures when necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in facility management, business administration, engineering, or a related field;
- Prior experience in facility management, maintenance, or a related field (3-5 years);
- Experience in managing teams of maintenance technician;
- Experience with vendor management and contract negotiations;
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, and compliance regulations;
- Understanding of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems;
- Ability to manage, motivate, and direct facility-related staff;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting, team coordination, and dealing with vendors or contractors;
- Quick decision-making skills to handle facility issues or emergencies;
- Ability to manage and allocate resources, track spending, and stay within budget;
- Strong ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate multiple tasks and projects simultaneously;
- Ensuring that all aspects of the facility are running efficiently, and up to standard;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively;
- Must be able to work in varied conditions, such as indoor/outdoor environments, and be on call for emergency repairs or situations;
- Ability to provide excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders, including responding to issues, resolving complaints, and ensuring satisfaction with the facility’s condition.
