Working conditions
- Following the instructions given by the Project Manager and in compliance with the applicable project specifications, codes, and standards, and Health and Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements;
- Participate in site surveys and studies (topography, geology, hydrology, etc.). When necessary, provide technical assistance to third-party contractors;
- Control the completeness and adequacy of the reports prepared by third-party contractors;
- Attend coordination and technical meetings with contractor(s), suppliers, and other departments;
- Participation in technical meetings with contractors and relevant government entities;
- Review and comment on the discipline-related technical documentation (e.g. drawings, specifications, calculations, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, procedures, reports, etc.) produced or revised by the contractor(s);
- Preparation of project design documentation for civil discipline (drawings, calculations, reports, etc.);
- Preparation of (within civil discipline), project specifications, material requisitions (for services and equipment), etc;
- Reviewing technical bids and preparation (or review, if prepared by contractor) of final technical bid evaluations for equipment and services related to civil discipline;
- Reviewing equipment and service suppliers’ documentation;
- Identify and provide support for the evaluation of proposed corrective actions for nonconformities;
- Choosing the best solution from the technical and economical point of view in performing plant design;
- Review and provide technical expertise on the technical clarifications and deviation requests submitted by contractors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is a MUST;
- Master's Degree in any of Structural / Geotechnical Engineering is a PREFERABLE;
- Minimum 7 years of total civil engineering experience with a minimum of 2 years on-site experience in large scaled construction projects is mandatory;
- Solid understanding of materials (concrete, steel, etc.) and their properties in structural and foundation engineering applications;
- Knowledge in concrete mix design as per enviromental exposure classes;
- Knowledge in soil mechanics, foundation systems, structural, geotechnical and hydraulic design principles;
- Review and check and if needed optimize structural design solutions for buildings, foundations, and other infrastructure projects using engineering software (AutoCAD, SAP2000, etc.);
- Ability to perform advanced structural analysis and calculations (e.g., load analysis, seismic design, wind load analysis);
- Ability to evaluate correctness of performed geological insitu and laboratory tests and assessment of correlation of geotechnical engineering design parameters;
- Ability to assess site drainage system design and flooding mitigation measures with check of hydrometerological design inputs;
- Strong knowledge of international design codes and regulations (e.g., ASCE, ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, EN) and ability to perform compliance check to the local Azerbaijani AzDTN codes;
- Strong written/verbal English communication skills.
